Is this data engineering, strategy, or something else?
Data Services is the practical span: assess what you have, decide what to keep or change, help select vendors, build or extend BI and CRM systems when needed, and oversee the result. Pure strategy decks without delivery, and narrow pipeline-only engineering retainers without a business owner, are not the default shape.
How is this different from Software Development?
Software Development builds applications, APIs, and product systems. Data Services focuses on the data estate: audits, assessments, warehouses and reporting stacks, custom BI and CRM work, vendor choices, and ongoing oversight. Many engagements use both so the app and the data model stay aligned.
Do you build CRM and business intelligence, or only advise?
Both. We audit and advise when buy-versus-build is unclear, and we build when that is the better path: custom BI, CRM and field-service system work, and customization of our own affordable, scalable BI platform. If a packaged CRM or analytics product fits the workflow, that is usually the recommendation.
Can this connect marketing campaigns to billing or membership plans?
Yes. Data Services owns the systems and workstreams that connect customer records, billing, membership or service plans, and the intake path campaigns feed. Managed Marketing runs the demand side; we keep the data model and flows accountable so leads, renewals, and plan enrollments do not live in separate black boxes.
When is Website Services the better front door?
If the ask is a public marketing site, landing pages, hosting, and care, start with Website Services. CRM systems, internal reporting, and BI platforms sit under Data Services. When a site needs forms that feed a CRM, we often scope both so the lead path and the data model stay aligned.
Can you help us choose a vendor without building anything?
Yes. Vendor selection assist is a common scoped engagement: requirements, shortlist, evaluation, and a recommendation you can defend. If a custom build is the better path, we recommend that too.
How does pricing usually work?
Assessments and vendor selection are typically fixed-fee with a defined deliverable set. Builds and integrations are scoped after discovery. Ongoing oversight can sit on a retainer once the operating model is clear. We quote after we understand the estate.
When should we involve Fractional CIO or Enterprise AI instead?
If leadership needs an ongoing seat for budget, risk, and vendor decisions across IT, start with Fractional CIO/CISO. If the brief is governed copilots or automation on top of a sound data foundation, see Enterprise AI. Data Services is the right front door when the pain is the data systems themselves.
